Level 1 (4:1)
The Goals for this level 1 are as follows:
Put entire face in the water
Swim independently with aid of a flotation device
Blows bubbles out of mouth and nose
Jumps in feet first
Safe entry from the edge of the pool
Intro to rolling from front to back and vice versa
Push from wall to instructor
Understands pool rules
Reaches for a submerged object and puts face in water
Level 2 (4:1)
(completing goals from Level 1)
The Goals for Level 2
Puts whole face underwater
Can keep face in water for 5-10 seconds
Front float on own for 10 seconds
Back float on own for 10 seconds
Reaches for a submerged object from the last step
Rolls from front to back
Beginner stroke 5 feet
Kicks on back 5 feet
Jumps in feet first and swims short distance to instructor
Level 3 (4:1)
After completion of goals from Level 2
The Goals for this level are as follows:
Back float for 15 seconds
Pushes from wall to instructor on front and back
Streamline kick on front 10 feet
Streamline kick on back 10 feet
Regulates breathing to side with kick board
Swims 5 feet can take a breath and continue to swim
Breaststroke arms with freestyle kick
Kicks on back 10 feet
Intro to backstroke
Dives for rings at bottom of pool assisted
Swims length of pool with floatation device on front
Jumps in and swims 10 feet
Rolls from back to front and front to back without support
Level 4 (4:1)
After completion of goals from Level 3
The Goals for this level are as follows:
Back float for 30 seconds
Pushes from wall to instructor on front and back and swims
Streamline kick on front for 20 feet
Streamline kick on back for 20 feet
Regulates breathing to side with arms, without flotation
Breaststroke arms with freestyle kick
Backstroke 15 feet
Dives for rings at bottom of pool assisted
Swims length of pool with flotation device on front
Jumps in and swims 15 feet
Rolls from back to front and front to back without support
Introduction to treading water
Level 5 (4:1)
After completion of goals from Level 4
The Goals for this level are as follows:
Swim 15 to 30 feet on both front and back
Regulate breathing for 15 feet
Understand survival floating and can float for 1 minute
Backstroke full length of pool
Treading water for 10 seconds
Swim underwater for 1 to 2 feet
Bobs and kicks for safety for 5 feet
Introduction of breaststroke kicks with arms
Level 6 (4:1)
After completion of goals from Level 5
The Goals for this level are as follows:
Regulates breathing to side with arms, without floatation
Introduction to elementary dolphin kick
Dives for rings at bottom of pool unassisted
Swims length of pool with regulated breathing
Jumps in and swims full length of pool
SWIM TEAM (5:1)
Must be able to perform ALL GOALS from Levels
45-minute workout
The Goals for this level are as follows:
Introduction to butterfly stroke
Introduction to turns
Swims 6 laps (down and back 2 pool lengths using flip or open turn)
Introduction to shallow diving
Swims with elevated hips on front and back
Breast stroke for the full length of the pool
Treading water for 2 minutes
Must be able to do front, back, and breast stroke without assistance
